Autumn Treasure Hunt in Kilbroney Park!

26th Oct 2017

Primary one, two and three had great fun on their Autumn walk in Kilbroney Park.

They used their senses of sight and touch to discover some of the wonderful signs of Autumn.

The children worked in pairs and small groups to find the 'treasure' listed on their task cards, with each class from P1 to P3 looking for different items.
The children worked together to find lots of nuts and beautiful coloured leaves. They collected them in their bags.

Clarice found evidence that Mr Squirrel had been feeling hungry!

Jack was one of the lucky children to find a beautiful shiny brown conker!

Some boys and girls were very excited to find a  large nest hole high up in the horse chestnut tree.  I wonder what creature might live there?

Mr Owl didn't come out to greet everyone so Primary 2/3 decided that he must NOT be like Plop the barn owl in their story 'The Owl who was Afraid of the Dark' because he really does sleep during the day and come out at night!
The children in Primary 1 think that they found a squirrel's drey, just like the one in their story about 'Squirrel's Autumn Search'. They said that he must have been very busy collecting conkers because there were not many left for them to find!
After all their hard work everyone washed their hands and enjoyed a well-deserved snack before returning to school to continue their autumn activities.
