Confirmation Day

4th May 2020

Today we think of our Primary Seven class on what would have been their Confirmation Day.

Confirmation Day is one of the most special occasions in our Primary Seven year and indeed, in our lives.  It is the day when we receive the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit and renew the promises made for us at our Baptism.  We celebrate with our families, our friends in our own school and our friends in the other Parish schools.

The experience for our Primary 7’s today is very different to what we would have wished for them, it is tinged with sadness and reflection on what might have been.  However, we look forward in hope and we pray that we will celebrate together in the future.

To assist our Primary Seven children and their families in acknowledging this special day, we invite them to assemble a May altar in their home, as mentioned in last Monday’s assembly.  Today, place an item on your May altar which symbolizes your Confirmation Day.

You may wish to reflect upon this video about Confirmation:  A message on you Confirmation Day    and follow the links to sing some of our Confirmation hymns:  Spirit Anthem    Christ be our light

Mass will be offered up for the Primary 7 pupils of the Parish of Upper Mourne at 10am today in St Joseph’s Church, Ballymartin.  We encourage you to join in the Mass online at https://www.mcnmedia.tv/camera/st-josephs-church-ballymartin

You are welcome to send a photo of how you are marking this special day, to be shared with our school community via the website.  Send to dhughes452@c2kni.net by Wednesday 6th May.

Primary 7 are excused from all home-learning work on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th May to mark the special occasion.
