Grange Primary School Kilkeel

First Holy Communion

2nd May 2020

Today we think of our Primary Four class on what would have been their First Holy Communion Day.

Our First Holy Communion Day is one of the most special occasions in our lives - when we receive Jesus in Holy Communion for the first time.  Traditionally, it is a day to celebrate with our families and our school community.

Whilst today is tinged with sadness and reflection on what might have been, we look forward in hope and we pray that we will celebrate together in the future when it is safe to do so.

To assist our children and their families in acknowledging this special day, we invite you to assemble a May altar in your home, as mentioned in last Monday’s assembly.  Today, place an item on your May altar which symbolizes your First Holy Communion Day.

You may wish to reflect upon this video from your Grow in Love:  The Communion Rite and to follow this links to sing one of our First Holy Communion hymns:  This is the day

You are welcome to send a photo of how you are marking this special day, to be shared with our school community via the website.  Send to ksloan665@c2kni.net by Monday 4th May.

Tomorrow morning, Sunday 3rd May at 10am, Fr Dillon will celebrate Mass in a live stream on www.mournefilm.com from the Our Lady of the Angels Oratory, Kilkeel.  He will pray for our Primary 4 class at this Mass and we invite you to join him online.

Primary 4 are excused from all home-learning work on Monday 4th May.
