Today marked the beginning of our Hearts of Mourne project with our first visit to Slieve Roe. The atmosphere was filled with warmth and pure delight as we met the residents, shared stories and began building the connections that will shape this journey.
We were welcomed with open hearts and friendly smiles, making introductions and starting conversations that we hope will blossom into lasting connections. Together, we created the first leaves for our Friendship Tree – a symbolic gesture of unity, growth and shared experience. Each contribution to the tree represents a moment, a memory or a message from the people who make Slieve Roe such a special place. The children joined the residents and attenders of Donard Day Care in a fitness workout.
This visit was just the beginning and we’re excited to see how the project unfolds as we continue to explore the stories, creativity and spirit of the Mourne community through the generations.
