A Special Morning of Faith, Music and Community
We were blessed with a truly special morning in school as we gathered to honour Our Lady with a beautiful Mass, celebrated with reverence and joy. Primary 7 pupils led the liturgy with grace and confidence, supported by the angelic voices of our children singing hymns and sharing their musical talents on the tin whistle.
Following the Mass, we processed prayerfully to the Grotto for a touching blessing and rededication ceremony. A new bench was unveiled in loving memory of May and Kathleen Doran, two devoted members of our community whose deep faith and dedication to Our Lady of Lourdes Chapel continue to inspire us all.
This year holds even greater significance as we prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of our cherished chapel in August—a century of faith, devotion, and community.
Our Key Stage Two Eco Team added a thoughtful touch by sharing reflections on the symbolism of flowers, reminding us of the beauty and meaning in God’s creation. The morning was filled with music, song and a deep sense of reverence from all our pupils.
We were honoured to be joined by the Doran family, members of our Board of Governors, Mr. Dominic Donnelly from the Down & Connor Catholic Schools’ Support Service and many families and parishioners who came together in faith and fellowship.
To conclude this meaningful celebration, everyone was warmly welcomed back to the school for a cup of tea—an opportunity to share memories, connect with one another, and reflect on a truly memorable morning.
We are truly grateful for the help and support of Kingdom Men’s Shed in making two beautiful planters and the bench for the grotto. We would be much less well-off without this dedicated group of local people who gave so much of their time.
A special word of thanks to Ms. Hughes for her time, dedication, and heartfelt commitment to this special project. Her efforts helped bring together a celebration that was both meaningful and memorable for the school and parish community.
