Last Spring, we were fortunate to be twinned with a school in the Villuercas–Ibores–Jara Geopark in the Extremadura region of Spain through the ‘I Have a Letter for You’ Geopark Schools Project.
Our Primary 1 and 2 children wrote letters to pupils in Aldeacentenera and those children wrote back to us. However, the letters never arrived in the post.
This week we were delighted to be contacted by Amy Dixon, Geopark Volunteer and Outreach Officer with NMDDC, who let us know that she had our letters. Amazingly, they had travelled all the way to Mourne via a Geopark conference in Austria!
We were thrilled to welcome Amy to the school this morning as she ensured these very special letters completed the final part of their journey safely. The children were absolutely delighted to receive the beautifully decorated envelopes and letters - what a lovely surprise for everyone! 💌🌍
