Safer Internet Day – Primary 5 & 6 Explore Using AI Responsibly
On Tuesday 10th February our Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils took part in a special Safer Internet Day session focused on Artificial Intelligence and how to use it safely.
The classes learned about:
• What AI is and where we see it in everyday life
• Appropriate vs. inappropriate uses of AI
• How to think critically about information created by AI
• How to stay safe, smart and responsible when using AI tools
Pupils also discussed what to do if something online makes them unsure, uncomfortable or confused, reinforcing the importance of seeking help from a trusted adult.
To demonstrate their learning, the children created posters showing:
• Examples of safe and unsafe uses of AI
• Clear advice on how to get help when dealing with online difficulties
• Tips for being responsible digital citizens
The discussions were thoughtful and enthusiastic, and the posters showed a strong understanding of how to use AI positively and safely.
