The Spirit of Catholic Education
22nd Jan 2026
To mark Catholic Schools’ Week 2026, the Diocese of Down and Connor celebrated the inspiring work of schools across the diocese by presenting the prestigious ‘Spirit of Catholic Education’ Award 2026.
We are delighted to share that our school was among this year’s award winning schools. At a special ceremony in St Mary’s University College on Wednesday 21st January, our school received the award from Bishop Alan McGuckian, recognising our commitment, dedication and lived Christian witness in nurturing the spiritual and prayer life of our school community. This year’s focus connected with the Jubilee Year of Hope and the call to “fan the flame of faith”.
The Spirit of Catholic Education Award is presented during Catholic Schools’ Week to honour schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to embedding Gospel values and the ethos of the Christian message into daily school life. The award also provides an opportunity to acknowledge the ongoing dedication of governors, school leaders, teachers and support staff as they guide the spiritual, moral, intellectual and social growth of young people.
Everyone at Grange Primary School is proud and deeply honoured to receive this award. It recognises the hard work and faith-filled dedication of our current governors, staff, pupils and families, while also paying tribute to the generations before us who helped shape the strong Catholic identity that defines Grange. Their enduring faith, service and witness have laid the foundation on which this achievement stands.
