The boys and girls in P6/7 participated in a video conference with renowned author Marita Conlon-McKenna today. They heard all about her life, her inspiration for writing some of her stories and what influenced her to become an author. Along with over sixty other schools from the Newry and Mourne area, the pupils were able to ask Marita some questions of their own. They learned that Marita has written stories at her kitchen table, in her study and on the train. She is happy to write in different places but it has to be in her home country of Ireland - she can’t write in another country! Also, when asked does being an author run in her family, Marita explained that her Aunt and her sons have also written stories. What a fantastic opportunity to gain some insights on the author of our class novel, ‘Under The Hawthorne Tree’. Well done boys and girls!
